Julebakst


                                                   Lefser, or thin bread from Nordland.

Divide the dough into pieces of equal size, 150 gram.
Use the wooden roller and roll out thin, thin rounds.

Done, and ready to be kept in the freezer.


NORDLANDSLEFSER

0,5 liter sour cream and 0,5 liter buttermilk= 1 liter (quart)
100 gram melted butter (Lurpak or Meierismør)
1 3/4 dl sugar syrup - Warm
2 dl sugar
1 teaspoon cardamum
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 teaspoons hornsalt - Mix this with some of the buttermilk when starting the process.

Combine all ingredients adding enough flour to make a nice dough.
Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 250 c (450F)

Divide the dough into equal pieces of 150 gram, and roll thin, thin rounds of bread.

Bake 5 - 10 minutes in the oven.

When serving, spread with butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Store cold, preferably frozen.
